Dally in the Alley 2008 Official Artists

For the first time in the history of the Dally in the Alley 2008 the chairman has decided to showcase two official festival artists, in a collaborative effort between Donald Calloway and U. Newkirk, II. Using this year's grassroots theme, the artists were invited to create a painting taking their own personal stance and freedom to expand on the subject in correlation to the Dally in the Alley and Detroit itself. more on the News Page >>>

Dally in the Alley 2008 to feature Russell Industreal Artists

As part of this year's Local Art Gallery, 2008 Dally in the Alley is showcasing a good handful of artists that reside and work at the historic Russell Industrial Center.  In response to last year's 2007 MOCAD featurette, this year the Dally in the Alley decides to feature the artists of the Russell Industrial Center with the curatorial aid of the renowned local artist and official Dally artist alumni Mark Arminski

The Greenest festival in Detroit

Recycle Detroit, Waste One, and Great Lakes Recycling are working together with the North Cass Community Union to green the Cass Corridor during the Dally in the Alley 2008.  The collaboration’s goal is to divert 50% of the waste stream by collecting:  Plastic #1-7, aluminum cans, paper, and cardboard. This “Green Trio” were responsible for making this year’s Movement: Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival 2008 a “green event.”  Volunteers from Recycle Detroit were able to capture 3,000 pounds of recyclables from the festival’s waste stream.  A team of Recycle Detroit’s volunteers also participated at this year’s Michigan’s Rothbury Music Festival.  Recycle Detroit’s collaboration with Spitfire Agency was successful with diverting 75% of the Rothbury’s waste stream. This will be Recycle Detroit’s third year participating with Dally in the Alley and its green initiatives. Recycle Detroit will take the initiative to make the Dally in the Alley 2008 the “cleanest festival in the city.”  This project will require over 100+ volunteers and will need the cooperation of the community in order to be successful.  Recycle Detroit’s goal is to divert at least 50% of the waste into recyclables.  There will be recycling stations set up through out the festival, which Recycle Detroit will have two bins collecting recyclables and waste separately.
